The Outstanding Engineer award recognizes a practicing engineer who has made recent (last three to five years) outstanding contributions to the field of engineering. To be eligible, a candidate must:
hold a BS, MS, or Ph.D. in an engineering field or be a licensed professional engineer;
be primarily employed as a practicing engineer (outstanding engineers primarily involved in education are not qualified for this award but may be qualified for a different award);
be a resident of San Diego County;
agree to accept the award in person at the annual National Engineers Week Banquet (unless special exceptions are approved in advance which would provide for a representative to accept the award in person on behalf of the awardee).
